hey doods, just had the new xp security updates, which means I now can't download or listen to stuff online. anyone know how i can sort this out? tried the trusted sites thing with limited success.
people who know me well are going to laugh at this response, but try googling certain key words? windows + security + update + listen + whatever program si effected? what particularl medium can't you access? real media streams? media player?
What is this sicurity update you are talking about. I can listen to streams just fine.
this has always been one of the things about windows updates that scares me, and one of the reasons why I never did the updates in windows 98. I listen to a computer talk show every saturday morning on a local am radio station, and a man called in and told the tech hosts that after he downloaded an update, he couldn't use file sharing or print sharing at all, and it ended with them telling him he could uninstall and reinstall the printer.

Huh? What windows update? I would've gotten a alert this morning when I turned the computer on.
these updates came through about two weeks ago now.
I am not sure about this update. I just let it do its thing and don't have that [problem.

well, i'm using my girlfriends computer at the moment and did all of the windows updates just yesterday and can report that all is still working absolutely fine with it! i'm still able to stream online radio etc with no problems at all! sorry i can't be more help!
no windows updates here, I've just checked. I install everything going where win xp is concerned, so no problems here.
I haven't been alerted from microsoft about any updates since somewhere at the beginning of the month. I can't remember when it was, but I don't think I've had any trouble listening to things with windows media player, unless you count the page can not be found thing, which comes up from time to time anyway. Outside of that, the only other thing that's wanted to do updates is avg free antivirus, and I go and update it when it says it's out of date.

you might have to uninstall windows then reinstall it.
Or just call up microsoft
I don't no what taht update is, but, i can stiel stream music and stuff like that.

No problems here and mine I have set to download automatically, but I do check to see if it gets them all and so far so good and so far so good on listening to stremes.
